What do you mean by afford the papers? A responsible breeder would register the litter before the puppies are sold. If papers were not provided at the time of purchase chances are the litter is not eligible for registration. I registered my last litter with the ADBA for under $50.00 and papers were included with each puppy I sold... are you saying the papers were optional to buy? I'm sorry but your story sounds fishy.

DNA testing is done by the ADBA/UKC to confirm parentage. These tests are not done to register dogs without papers. Hopefully you're able to locate the breeder... do you know the names of the sire or dam or the breeder?

Don't want to sound negative but I think you're screwed. If you think both parents are UKC registered and you remember their names call the UKC and see if they can locate the breeder. How much did this guy charge you for the dog without papers?

I wouldn't give more than 100 dollars for an unregistered dog, and only then if the breeder can show me the papers to prove the dog is purebred. This is his and your fault i guess, it only costs around 10 bucks plus 2 dollars per pup to register a full litter so a litter of 10 pups would be $30.00. But to me if a person thinks that their pups are worth $900.00 they should just stick to that number and include the paperwork. Otherwise why not just sell the pups for $100.00 without papers because they are worthless without papers. you could always register her with the ckc or the apbr, but they are just as worthless as unpapered dogs, even though people who own dogs of these registries would argue otherwise. You might just try and drive back to where you got the dog from and see if that person still lives there, if not see if the new owners know who used to live there. Just sleuth your way around till you find the breeder!
