I agree with bullet totally. HEY remember this? if it looks like a bull dog and walks like a bulldog then it is a BULL DOG. Come on who are you fooling other than your selfs. if you like short and fat then get a real english bulldog. instead of creating a mutt. notice they have a lot health problems and most don't live past 8 or 9 years of age and pits live up to like 12 14 years old.

I've read this debate thousands of times and I'm just thinking that couldn't everything be laid to rest if those who fancy the bully type pits begin an entirely new breed of dog; one that came out of the original pitbull, but is now it's own breed entirely; much like what happened with the AmStaff? Game bred pitbull enthusiasts will always say that the bully's are not pits to true form and they are right, but bully's are still awesome dogs nonetheless. The bully breeders can lead the way in creating a dog, while similar to the pitbull, is much more acceptable in the eyes of society since it's not known for being a dog used in pit fighting.

Remeber we are using a word "pit" Thats where the dog comes from or should we say breed for. The dog has to beable to perform for sometime. Weather its legal or not ...thats what they were breed for. 1st killing rats and then dogfighting was developed from there. Once the english start coming over here they broght there dogs and then we the NEW Americans wanted there dogs bigger and better. Thus the AB started, many people stayed with there smaller gamer dogs and kept the blood hidden and expose to only a few even when dog fighting was legal it was hard to find these dogs. SO a real pitbull has to beable to perform in a pit or look like it...Good conformation and good conditioning as well as good genes. This is why i like the adba dogs, you have to work these dogs and under stand nutition and conditioning. All my dogs are well round and can be with other dogs but will not take a overly alfa animal. Bob, i was looking at your myspace and dont want to start anything but 95% of those dogs are breed for color and size. Very large animals and you can says that there is a good amount of pit in there, but they are not pitbulls more like AB/pit mixes.

well said guys but besides matching and bull baiting these dogs we used as farm dogs hunting dogs and company for there owners " an all around dog" and from wht i have read the american bull dog is an ancestor of the origanl bull dog , larger apbts were used as catch dogs and back then large was in the 70 lbs area not 100 plus call them wht they are not wht there said to be !!!!!!! another thing is they should be called by there prober name american pit bull terrier , most people dont even know ones a apbt until you tell them and before they were told 99% would say there the best looking dog they ever saw !!!!!!!!!

A good AB is hard to come by but yes i agree they are the old blood. In the 80 and 90 people start to over breed them. I like the good old apbt. Great breed

so im new to this site but been in the buisness for almost 14 years. and im just curious what you guys consider real pitbulls? i raise gotty greyline edge chinaman and colby dogs. im a reconized breeder with the ukc, adba, apbr and have many titles. but i was just curious and though itd be fun to see what kinda dogs you guys consider real pits this should be fun! and while your at it for the few of you that talk all this game dog stuff what do you think is the best game bred dogs? i have 100% chinaman bloodline dogs in my kennel so i no what a game bred dogg is but just want some of your opinions i think that is the one of the biggest problems in the apbt comm. that everyone has their own idea of and ideal apbt. but like you said the most popular bloodlines right now are about the farthest thing from what the original apbt was

i dont think lotsa the new style bullies are crosses (ive seen some that are but are obviusly not pure usualy ugly as fuk) but have just been selectively bred for size and weight rather than drive and determination. my first pit and his family were game bred, and they all still hung out just got in the occasianal pissing match. i own RE and royal (ruffian) pits now and would say their just lazier and have less drive, but are still supperior to most breeds and have the unmistakeable pitbull devotion that we all love it seems cause the internet and dog shows people are just feedin the nuts outa their dog and rippin up body builder style, and we all know working muscle is different than weight lifting biggness and anyone thats bought a big blue nose will know its still how its raised and what it does that'll determine what itll look like. my dogs dadd was 120lbs but the biggest mine hit is 90-95 and usually stay at 85 in the summer when there in the bush and running lots, just my 2cents and they way i likem ,

yeah ok first off the game bred pitbull is the origanal pit. thats why they have standards set for the dog. Today you have people an breeders that crossed the breed with bigger dogs for a different look, but you cant cross breed an feel you can classify it as a pitbull. these bully style/show dogs aren't pits at all. As though they do have a nice look to them, but they do not fall in the same category as the origanl pitbull. prime examples www.gamedogs.com/pictures/Males/males1.gtml go to that site an look at, dead serious ch. redman, Garetts Floyd an otha dogs an theres your pitbulls
